A Pillar of Faith in Portland, Oregon
For more than twenty-five years, Dr. Profesor Iosif Èšon lived in Portland, Oregon, and during that time he became one of the greatest blessings to the Romanian churches in the entire area. His home was not only in Portland, but his heart was in the Romanian community, where he faithfully invested his wisdom, energy, and love for the Gospel.
Yet his ministry extended far beyond one congregation. Dr. Èšon preached across nearly every Romanian church in Portland, building bridges of fellowship and unity, mentoring pastors, encouraging ministers, and equipping entire generations with biblical truth. Through his messages, books, seminars, and personal counsel, he became a teacher to many and a spiritual father to all who knew him.
The Romanian community in Portland will forever remember him not only as a theologian of international recognition, but as a shepherd among them—one who walked with them, prayed with them, and stood beside them through joys and trials. His presence brought comfort, his words brought conviction, and his life was a living testimony of devotion to God.
The legacy he leaves behind in Portland is one of faith, unity, and hope. For more than a quarter of a century, he was the voice that called us closer to Christ, and today we give thanks to God for the privilege of having walked alongside such a servant of the Gospel.
For about three years, he preached every Sunday at Emanuel Romanian Church, guiding the congregation with clarity, theological depth, and spiritual passion. Week after week, he unfolded the treasures of Scripture, leaving behind sermons that shaped lives, encouraged families, and deepened the faith of countless believers.

Global Impact. His sermons, seminars, books, videos, and radio/online messages formed generations of pastors and believers across
languages and continents; he is widely recognized as an international theologian whose work continues to shape the church.
